Knowing the shape of each part matters more than raw vocabulary: you lose marks in the Aptis listening test by not knowing what you are listening for. This is what you will find in every test:

Listening is the component people leave until last, and it is the one where a full rehearsal helps most: if you would rather sit every skill in one session, take a complete Aptis General mock test instead.
How to practise Aptis listening properly
A few things that separate a B1 result from a B2 result in this component:
- Read the question before the audio starts. In Part 1 the three options are usually three numbers, three times or three places, and all of them are mentioned in the recording. The question tells you which one to keep.
- Use the second play deliberately. First play for the general idea, second play to confirm the detail you are unsure about. Playing it twice for the same reason wastes half your time.
- In Parts 2 and 3, listen for attitude, not keywords. Speakers rarely repeat the words in the sentence you have to match; they paraphrase them. Matching by keyword is the most common mistake.
- In Part 4, the answer is about intention. The question asks why the speaker says something, not what they said. Note the tone: enthusiastic, cautious, critical.
- Finish the whole test in one sitting before checking answers. The Aptis listening test is tiring by design and practising in fragments hides that.
